Camino day 7

Monday, Sept 7

Roller coaster of a day. Tough terrain mixed with some spectacular views.

Left at 7am, after a nice breakfast at hostel, into a dark eerie morning. Straight into a 6 mile incline of 3000 feet. We killed the incline, had some setbacks tho.

Jacob’s two batteries were well drained after the incline, and Nicole had some issues with a ligament in her knee that got pretty bad.

We stopped at a cafe to recharge Jacob’s battery for an hour, then set back off for another 10 miles, and it was a long 10 miles. We were proud of Nicole for prevailing through her pain .

The terrain was anything but flat. Up and down and up and down. Stunning views, and we did enjoy them, but much energy was put towards just making it. Did a lot of pushing of Jacob’s chair on inclines, sometimes because it was too steep, and sometimes to try to save battery.

The community support along the Camino is so refreshing. A couple other midwestern Americans, who happened to be a doctor and physical therapist, helped Nicole out.

Passing through the small towns and seeing the farmland was such a nice experience. Got to our albergue around 5pm and it’s a killer spot. Had a great dinner and some sangria. Another day down, buen camino.
